My Mamaw was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago but it was heart failure that took her life. It was a tremendous shock to us because we had no idea she had any form of heart trouble.
My Mamaw was such a tremendous part of my life, I still have trouble accepting that she is no longer here on this earth. She always said that she wanted to go "Home" and I know she is at home with her Lord and Family that went on before her.
I love my Mamaw so much and will miss her forever until as the song says, "When I Get Where I'm Going" and see her again. My biggest regret of all is that I didn't get to say goodbye to her and tell her how much I love her. I found this poem on this website and it fit exactly how I felt. So I wanted to use it here in the eulogy cause it fits so well. Thanks to whoever posted it.........
WE DIDN'T GET TO SAY GOODBYE
We never knew that morning,
What hurt that day would bring,
A special heart stopped beating,
We couldn't do a thing,
But when we see your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
Don't cry I'm only sleeping,
I'm with you everyday,
To think we didn't say goodbye,
Will always bring regret,
But hearts that always loved you,
Are the hearts that won't forget.
